Big win for Milwaukee! Alex Brower secured his seat in the Milwaukee Common Council at the voting booths yesterday with 53.9% of the vote.
Brower is a tireless advocate for public utilities, tenants rights, and public education.
He is using his position to escalate the local fight to replace We Energies with publicly-owned utilities to provide better reliability and lower costs for his constituents. He has a clear plan to win this fight through Chapter 197 of the Wisconsin State Statutes. Read more about Power to the People MKE campaign.
As an experienced educator, Brower has seen firsthand how the state has failed to support public education through both budgetary cuts and inadequate working conditions for teachers. During his time as president of the substitute teachers union, he won healthcare benefits for substitute teachers by going on a 21-day hunger strike.
We’re looking forward to watch Alex’s term unfold!
Congratulations to Alex, his team, and Milwaukee DSA for this win! 🌹
